Mission Statement & etc.

Client: Zoo Negara
URL: http://www.zoonegara.org.my/

Mission Statement/Site Objective
My first aim is to give the site's visitors a "pre-experience". To give them a slight glipmse of what they will be able to experience in the zoo so they will want to experience it fully - hence, encouraging the real visit to Zoo Negara.

Secondly, I want to portray the image of Zoo Negara in an attrative way to make it a must-go place for tourists. Not only tourists from overseas, but also Malaysian from outstation. Here, good quality images will be of help, whether in enchancing the "pre-experience" I mentioned above, or just by giving stronger visual aid.

Next, I want to send out the message to EVERYONE that Zoo Negara is a good recreational place. They uphold these four concepts: education, conservation, researcg and recreation. You don't just go there to blandly learn about animals, you're there to have fun while you learn! And this wonderful offer isn't just limited to Malaysians, it's to EVERYONE! Limitless of nationality, gender, race or age.

Information on the site will also be presented in a more attractive way. Or at least, not only with text, but with more visual aids and such. Sub-importance will also be given to the research done by Zoo Negara, and also their conservation efforts and adoption program. I feel these are not neglectable as it is part of their zoo conept.

Last but not least, important visitor's information will be made as to be easily-accessable. Information like the zoo's opening hours, ticket prices, maps and so on.

Goals
▶easy-to-navigate site
▶ easily and quickly accessable information
▶ encourages users to visit Zoo Negara
▶ portrays the "open concept" enclosures

Sub-goals
▶ promote awareness on conservation
▶ promote the adoption programme

Target Audience
▶ overseas/outstation tourists
▶ local parents
▶ local teens
▶ local kids
▶ in short, EVERYONE

Wah.... u have a huge target, i love the four concepts: education, conservation, research and recreation. It really meaning full!

Actually the zoo negara web have their own identity there. But it just quite messy with the arrangement and their low visual. Content also to bored to read it.

I think content part u can make much more stronger by using some visual to enhance it. Beside, their navigation is really small and unfocused, maybe you also can do something to that, maybe navigation with full flash? rollover effect? graphic image combine with word?

*Content is most important because you are educate people~ accept you can use visual to tell it but it really very challenging if only visual.

Beware of to much image may also cause slow access able.

All the best to you, gambateh XD

Well, a zoo is for everyone :)
And Zoo Negara has facilities catering to all age group and many purposes, so why not let everyone have their share of fun?

Yeah, I did plan to make the navigations more attrative, if not interactive.

But like you said, I'm worried about too many images as well ^^;

Thanks for the comment :)
will think it over!

now is my turn to comment your mission statement =D

"send out the message to EVERYONE that Zoo Negara is a good recreational place. They uphold these four concepts: education, conservation, research and recreation. You don't just go there to blandly learn about animals, you're there to have fun while you learn!"

i love your above statement ;) you really did consider more than just fulfilling your corporate identity. i believe by this statement, you'll be able to achieve your goals in encouraging your target audience to visit your client's site. This will be a great way in ushering those parents out there, to bring their kids to your client's place, Zoo Negara.

*sounds weird LOL but yea! your client's place LOL*

You've definitely done a great job in your mission statement.. Overall, good job =D.. at least your concept is far way better than the current web design of your client =D...The texts and the layout is just to plain and small as what vincent the monkey had mention earlier on =X...
just suggesting ayte? ;)

anyway, i wish you all the best ayte? =) Dont get so stress ayte? ;)

lol i dnt know how to give constructive crit like the comments you already have.. but i think that your motive for the redesign is good la.. its important that the site promote education as well as touring promotions (which it seems to do more) and the green is super bright! should be toned down.. .. and i agree that its should be more visual instead of text based. all the boxes as navigation panels and stuff are kinda sucky. and it doesnt look like its been maintained properly.. they only update it with special offers.. i think it should be more up to date like the spore zoo (the front page has cny offering promotion rite? the rat thing )

maybe a few flash games would be cool tho. something like neopets.. it needs to be interactive for it to be mot boring !

i hope you get what im trying to say.. i know abit messy la.. lol
good luck k! dont stress! hugs !!!

the overall idea, mission statements behind are very impressive, like what the rest of your frens hav mentioned. They are very properly done and sort. I like the four concepts too which is the edu, conser, research and recreation.

It actually depends how ur target audiences are going to be, if let's say children it can be to education and recreation as well..mayb for the rest it can be conservation and research?
Zoo's are always the best place for humans to appreciate the animals, the wildlife, and also to experience each and every single animal's life as well. So probably you can come out with some pictures of animals's family?colony?that would bring much impact to viewers.

But always bear in mind that what attracts users to come to ur web.that is the most essential among all, as i can say..
